How does Fraxel work?
The Fraxel Dual Wavelength System targets and treats a fraction of skin tissue at a time and leaves the surrounding tissue untouched. This provides results while also promoting rapid healing. Unlike ablative laser treatments, this non-ablative treatment effectively works from the inside out. The Fraxel laser does not destroy the top layer of skin, but rather penetrates beneath it to encourage healthy cell renewal.

Pre-Treatment Care
- Avoid tanning or prolonged sun exposure for 2 weeks prior
- Avoid taking aspirin and other blood-thinning medications for 72 hours prior to treatment

- Avoid sun exposure during the healing phase and apply a sunscreen daily with at least SPF 30
- Any redness from the treatment can be camouflaged using makeup without any negative effects

Everyone’s skin is different, but for most people, maximum results are achieved in just 3-5 sessions. They are usually spaced 2-6 weeks apart.
While you can return to work after the treatment, you can expect around 5-7 days of downtime or reduced activity. Immediately after your treatment, your skin will be red, irritated, and possibly swollen. This can last several days. Your skin will peel, which is a sign that the treatment is working. If pigmentation is present on the skin, it may darken after treatment and last a few days before flaking away to reveal smoother, clearer skin.
Results can last for a long time, often several years, although they are not permanent. Your skin will continue to age and may need further treatments in the future.
The treatment is not painful, although you may experience mild discomfort and a prickly feeling. Numbing cream will be used to help ease any discomfort.
